The beneficial properties of pumpkin are numerous.
- Pumpkin is an alpha hydroxy powerhouse. These gentle fruit enzymes increase cell turnover and help to exfoliate the skin, leaving the skin smooth and glowing.
- Pumpkin also contains Vitamins A, C & E as well as beta-carotene. These work together to help at many different layers. Vitamin A stimulates collagen production while Vitamin C provides antioxidant power and helps to cleave free radicals off the skin, protecting it from environmental damage. Vitamin E provides moisture and softens the skin. Together with beta-carotene these ingredients help to decrease wrinkles and fine lines, lighten dark spots and can help to reduce UV damage.
- Pumpkin is also loaded with zinc and potassium. These two minerals help to reduce inflammation, fight redness and help to fight off bacteria. It also helps to control oil production. This makes pumpkin a wonderful choice in helping to treat acneic skin.
